Hootsuite Provides Single Access Point to Social Networking Sites

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

Social media has brought along a number of amazing innovations, such as Hootsuite. Hootsuite is a free social networking web service that enables users to post content to multiple social networks simultaneously and is one of the best kept secrets of social media marketers. Hootsuite allows you to conveniently get an update out to your social networks from anywhere.

What can Hootsuite Do?
Hootsuite allows you to post to social network sites at any time, from any place. You could distribute a tweet or post from your cellphone, a computer an iPhone or really any electronic medium. As stated earlier, Hootsuite allows you single access to all of your social networking Web sites. Instead of logging on to each site to distribute content, you can simply log into Hootsuite and create a post that will be distributed to multiple social networking sites.

What Sites can Hootsuite Post To?
Hootsuite can post to most of the well-known social networking Web sites, as well as some of the lesser-known sites. Sites that Hootsuite supports include: Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Foursquare and many more.

Why Use HootSuite?
There are two major reasons to use Hootsuite. First, Hootsuite will save you time. Every social networking site requires you to visit their Web site and log-in before you are allowed to post an update. If each site takes you a couple of minutes to log-in to and you are visiting multiple sites, using Hootsuite will obviously save you time. Another advantage of Hootsuite is that it can used anywhere on almost any electronic medium, which means you post to your social networking sites on the fly and keep followers apprised of the latest news.

Social Media Marketing on Facebook: What Works?

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Last September, Marketing Profs conducted a survey of B2B and B2C marketers to find out which social media marketing strategies work (and don’t work) for them.

The survey found that the most common social media marketing strategy used on Facebook was to attempt to drive traffic to corporate materials through status updates. This strategy, while widely used, was not the most effective!

The survey found that the most effective tactic for consumer-oriented companies was to create a Facebook application, which was done by less than 25% of total respondents. Both B2B and B2C companies also reported surveying their fans as an effective tactic (3rd most common strategy).

Buying ads—even targeted ones—was the least effective type of social media marketing.
