The latest beta version of Microsoft’s Bing Maps includes the ability to overlay social media such as tweets. This could be a huge blow to Google Maps, as it is much more valuable to online and mobile marketers.
Microsoft’s senior VP for online services, Satya Nadella, recently posted in a blog that a development platform is available in limited release that allows users to create “mash-ins” on top of a map. These could be tweets on the map from their originating location, or local blogs placed physically on a map.
