A new video by the head of Google’s webspam team, Matt Cutts, may give us some insight into how Google differentiates the importance of link from different segments of sites. In the video, Matt answers the question, “Does the position of keywords in the URL affect ranking?” and explains that Google doesn’t necessarily rank a link from a blog higher than a link from a forum.
However, Matt does imply that the trust factors they have built into their algorithm might show that Google is valuing links from one group of sites higher than another group of sites.
